Day 2 of Cape Town- Table Mountain

Woke up this morning to such a nice sunny day, peeked out the window and had such an amazing view of the mountain. This was a sign that we had finally made it to cape town. Was absolutely amazing!! So we got up got ready etc and got a taxi to the cable car station! got our tickets and waited in a huge queue for ages, easily about 2hours!! when we eventually made it through we were the last 2 to get on the cable car! The cable car hols 65 people, so we were packed in like sardines... And with people pushing to get to the windows, it made a bit of a scary ride lol  As it leaves the station they tell you not to hold onto the rail around the edge as the floor rotates!! so there we are.. rotating in a circle in a cable car that goes very steeply up the mountain!! But got 360 degrees of amazing views.... The cable car only takes about 5mins. So we were up there in no time.

We got to the top and started looking around and thing. We decided we wanted to go to some beacon (the highest point on table mountain). so we looked for the path and started to follow it. With our experience with SA maps before this was going to an adventure... we thought it was supposed to a 45min round trip. it ended being 45 min there and 45 min back!! we had walk through a gorge and everything. Once we reached the beacon it had such amazing views it was certainly worth it. we finally trekked back to the cable car station, dying for some juice.

ONce re-hydrated we walked around the other side of the mountain to look down at Cape Town. And OMG... it was liking down on a postcard. the pics we will put up or the word we type just wont be enough  to describe how beautiful it was. It was honestly like looking down at a postcard. we walked along further and did a short walk. taking our time to enjoy this view...

As we started to head back to the cable car station we saw a better detailed map that our trek to the beacon actually took us right across the mount which was a nice surprise! we actually spent the whole day up there. once we got down from the mountain we went back to the hostel and slowly started getting ready to go out for dinner and drink on the infamous Long Street.....

We had dinner at this cool restaurant called Mamma Africa (well recommended!!) had a really nice vibe in there wit the the live music playing. We started Crocodile kebabs for starters which was laaarrrrvly! its tasted (not like chicken!!) but a bit like gammon as it was a bit salty, but also chewy too!

After an expensive dinner, we headed to Bobs bar for a few games of pool n drinks. But left after one as you were still allowed to smoke out there in bars... so we headed to stones, loving the Vodka & mixer for less than 90p!!! We continued playing pool (cha Mal winning all the games of course :)) we headed home a bit early as we had to be up and ready to go @ 8am, for our tour tomorrow :)
